چکیده

A kind of 2.5-dimensional C/C-SiC composites was fabricated by using Isothermal Chemical Vapour Infiltration process (ICVI). Frictional properties of this material were evaluated by using MM-1000 under dry condition. Average dynamic friction coefficient of it was 0.16, static friction coefficient and average coefficient stability were 0.15 and 0.56, respectively. However, weight wear rate was less than 1.25 mg·time-1. Moreover, friction surface with low roughness has been observed. Then, the “Grinding Effect” has been presented, which will decrease surface roughness. The “Grinding Effect” was a kind of abrasive wear, which was mainly due to high superficial hardness.

Microstructure of 3d Textile C/pyc/sic Composites Prepared by Chemical Vapor Infiltration

Ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) is one of the most promising candidates for high temperature structural material, in which SiC matrix exhibits an excellent oxidation resistance because of the formation of a protective layer of silica which limits further oxidation [1]. CMCs with continuous fibers exhibit attractive properties such as low densities, high elastic moduli, and high strengths at el...

PROTECTION AGAINST OXIDATION OF C/SiC COMPOSITES BY CHEMICAL VAPOUR DEPOSITION OF TITANIUM DIBORIDE: DEPOSITION KINETICS AND OXIDATION BEHAVIOUR OF FILMS PREPARED FROM TiCl4/BCl3/H2 MIXTURES

Ti82 coatings were deposited by hydrogen reduction of Tic14 and BCl3. The objective was to correlate process variables with thermodynamic equilibrium calculations, deposition kinetics, coating stucture and properties. Particular emphasis was given to obtaining deposits having appropriate oxidation resistance to protect CISiC composites. Fi lms, obtained at moderate temperature (800°C), acted as...

Effect of Silicon Carbide and graphite additives on the pressureless Sintering mechanism and microstructural characteristics of Ultra-High Temperature ZrB2 Ceramics Composites

The effect of SiC content, additives, and process parameters on densification and microstructural properties of pressureless sintered ZrB2– (1–10 wt %) SiC particulate composites have been studied. The ZrB2–SiC composite powders mixed by Spex mixer with 1-2wt% C (added as graphite powder) and CMC have been cold-compacted and sintered in argon environment in the temperature range of 1800–2100ºC ...

Optimization of SiC particle distribution during compocasting of A356-SiCp composites using D-optimal experiment design

This paper presents an experimental design approach to the process parameter optimization for compocasting of A356-SiCp composites. Toward this end, parameters of stirring temperature, stirring time, stirring speed and SiC content were chosen and three levels of these parameters were considered. The D-optimal design of experiment (DODE) was employed for experimental design and analysis of resul...
